Girl rider new to forum, seeking adventure!
Just introducing myself... My name is Helen, a 33 year old free spirited great-outdoors fanatic. I did my first solo bike tour in the Pyrenees/North Spain in June this year...a little shakedown trip to see how things went. I LOVED it and now I'm getting excited about turning a long held dream into reality - a big trip!!
I'm in the very early stages of planning.
Thinking about taking a sabbatical of perhaps 8 months to a year. For a 2015-2016 departure, taking in North and South America....although I'm open to anything.
Just wondering who else is on the same page? I'd be happy going solo but to find a like-minded companion (male or female) for all or part would be wonderful!
I'm not a motorcycle fanatic - I don't talk bike I just love to ride and explore and create adventures on and off the bike!
Feel free to contact me kindred spirits!

Hi Helsbels,
I am going through exactly the same thinking patterns. Now 40 and been riding bikes for 20yrs give or take. Done many tours, but no big trip. Keen to do a N+S America journey in 2015. Maybe we can discuss and share information on planning etc.

Welcome girl rider
Welcome Helsbels, when you are once again in Spain, or get to North America or South America - it would be our pleasure to get to know you in person.
Currently we are in Mera - near A Coruña, Spain with our 2 BMWs, but will return to Bogota, Colombia (BOGOCINE film festival Oct 2014) and our 2 Hondas for the ride back to Buenos Aires Nov/Dec/Jan and will return to Flagstaff, Arizona March 2015, then your guess would be as good as mine.
Elisa began her international motorcycle over landing during a sabbatical - she is Spanish, but taught in several North and South American universities.... I am an expat USA.

Hi,
Same here, planning to take off in 2015 with the Motorbike. Due to some changes in my company I will quit the job and so this is the perfect time for a big trip. A Motorbike Adventure has been a dream of mine for quite some time.
Done no planning so far, but as I had been travelling for half a year in Central and some of South america and was very impressed, I always considered returning one day on a motorbike and get to know more of the wonderful nature and people/culture. I am also keen on travelling north america.
Best,
Phil

Hmmm. Me to !nothing that hasn't been mentioned. Did the Donington meet. Didn't cure me! Next year I hope to travel also. Like south America. Backpacked mexico for a month. Fancied starting in the UK. Then riding there though? Lots to see on the way. I have been surprised how much distance you cover on a bike in a day! But only done Scotland and wales as a taster this year. Will follow the thread see how things pan out. Two houses to sort out by next year. Then I'm off. No plans. But thinking of riding my sports bike. Not an adventure bike. Found my DR650 a bit boring.may of changed my mind by tomorrow? Lol

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
