Marcel,
Don't worry to much about the security in Eastern Iran and Western Pakistan. Wherever you need it, in both countries, a Police vehicle will appear and escort you through the areas they regard as "a little unsafe" They always have man with a machine gun or auto shotgun in the back of their truck so it is not a problem. Be off the road before about 4pm and stay in your Hotel at night. At Dalbandin the Police insist you sleep in the Police compound, we did and I advise anyone to do so. The Iranians and Pakistani people are friendly and open and only to willing to help. Don't try and buck the system and everything should be O.K. We travelled through in March/April 2008.

G2K Glasgow to Kathmandu...
I also start this weekend from Glasgow, but I think you are going to be too far ahead of me.
I should be in Istanbul in about 10 days, but will keep you posted of my whereabouts.
There is also Ian who I believe is in Romania at the moment, and is also about five days ahead of me. You can get in touch with via my G2K thread on travellers seaking travellers.
See you on the road.
