July Norway Adventure!
To All
I'm brand spanking new to this forum and I'm very excited to make use of it. I took my first motorbike trip in norway last summer covering the southern half including the western fjords, famous road like trollstigen and I'm thirsty for more.
I'm planning to ride for most of July 2023 starting near oslo and all the way up to nordkapp. I would like to cover the tet North of lillehammer then up to molde, then the coastal route to nordkapp. Depending on time I would like to tackle some tet in Sweden or just use the fast and direct roads back down to oslo.
A bit about me:
I'm English living in norway and working as an arborist, I love the outdoors and exploring. I passed my bike test one year ago and I ride a bmw 650gs dakar. I ride at a reasonable pace but not with too much haste. I covered upto 300km a day on country roads for last summers trip. Camping is okay but I plan to utilise cheap or free cabins this time around with some camping inbetween. I have a few relatives here (im half norge) and they are scattered throughout the country so free stays in Gol, bødo, andøya are possible. Starting from my small apartment is cool and you can stay here a few days before beginning. We have a decent workshop at our yard which can be used for basic repairs before heading off.
If you are not interested in offroad then the Tet parts are not a deal breaker, I can do this any time as I live a few hours away.
I like to break up the trip seeing interesting stuff or maybe even a hike or two. I'm easy going and want to go with 1-4 others. Happy to learn from others and do random stuff like fishing with a in hand.
Send me an email and we can have a chat about things.
Cheers and safe riding.

I'm interested. Been riding for around 15 years, owned current bike 6 years. Not really done any off-road riding, just gravel roads and grassy single track lanes! Norway has been on my list for ages but never had anyone to go with. I would probably try to get a ferry from northern UK across to save some time (and rubber!). I'm approaching 50, so I prefer not to do lots of long days riding but the odd one is fine. Camping is fine - but I'd probably look for the little campsite huts where possible (especially if rain soaked). Thoughts?

I could be wrong but as far as I know the ¨most northern¨ ferry from UK to mainland Europe is from Newcastle to IJmuiden. Another one could be Harwich to Hoek van Holland. But the good news is there is a ferry from the Dutch Eemshaven to Kristiansand in Norway.

Hi Steve (mental for health)
Sorry for the slow reply, I'm away on holiday at the moment. Sounds good to me, the alternative is to hire, hygglo is a good peer to peer rental site for all manner of things including motorbikes. I'm sure you could get a cheaper long term deal than advertised.
When I'm back we should chat, maybe WhatsApp call or something. I'm available after 11th February.
Look forward to hearing from you.
If anyone else is interested then please don't be shy!
Cheers
Tom

Hi, I'll be travelling from Leeds to Calais, through Germany, Denmark, Stockholm to Oslo, then up to Tromso and back down to Helsinki during July. Be great to meet up for part of that journey if you're around! I'm a car driver through - VW Golf, so no off-road for me - apols.
For me this is all part of a longer trip through E Europe, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia (Azerbijan - if open to land border travel), and back through Greece, Albania, the ex-Yugoslav states, Italy (for a wedding), S France, Spain & Portugal by end of October. From there I'll return to UK to get 4x4 before going on though West Africa to S. Africa - Nov 2023 onwards.
Happy to meet up with anyone and everyone of those travels - pm me if interested

I'm heading to Nordkapp this July on a solo motorcycle trip too.
Coming from the UK, via the Hook of Holland, I am planning to head up mostly via the E4 in Sweden, and then back down the west coast of Norway. (saving the best until last)
Hoping to mix camping and hotels as conditions allow.
It'd be great if our paths crossed at some point.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
