Kyrgyzstan -> China -> Pakistan in August (or Georgia -> India)
We are a group planing to go Georgia (9.7.), Armenia (11.7.), Iran (!3.7.), Turkmenistan (20.7), Uzbekistan ( Classic Silk Road Cities) (24.7.), Tadjikistan (31.7.) ( Pamir Highway), Kyrgyzstan (10.8), China (12.8.) ( Karakorum Highway), Pakistan(16.8), India(22.8).
I think this 6 week trip packs a lot of highlights. It involves also 9 difficult border crossings, lots of visa, permits and guides.
We still looking for travel companions (whole trip or part) to keep costs for guides etc. low. I guess we have visas and permits well organised but we need to start the application process this months.
So If you want to drive the nicest parts of the silk road + Parmir Highway + Karakorum Highway this is the time. You never know when the next land slide blocks the Karakorum Highway for years to come.
The group current consists of trucks and cars only but everybody is

Hi Max,
I want to be on the Pamir for 3 weeks in June. How are your plans going? I will be hiring a XT600 locally but want some new friends to share the memories and good times with on the road!

Is this trip really a marathon?
I drove a lot of your route last year and I can see that you are going to be driving almost every day.
You are going to miss out on any intimate connections with the locals and insights into the countries you get from stopping and absorbing. It is a pity really because you will never go back.
Be prepared for fuel difficulties in Uzbekistan where diesel and petrol are hard to find. We found only four places where it was available between Tashkent and the Kazakhstan border via Khiva. There is so much to experience in Tajikistan it is a crime to rush through.
You wont be able to do any speed on the bitumen on the way to Murghab without getting airborne.

Your dates for this section: Tadjikistan (31.7.) (Pamir Highway), Kyrgyzstan (10.8) align to a potential trip i'm looking at. Would love to find out more to see if plans could align, i'll be on a bike.

Athul, planning the same route May 2019 - UK to India. Flexible on start dates to align with people travelling the same route. Two riders on two motorcycle. 1 a BMW1200 and the other as yet unknown . Will be good to stay in touch.
Also as this thread is for a 2018 trip, and to ensure that we do not drag this thread away, would you want to start a separate thread please? Can share plans and dates on that.
Thanks,

Hello Kurien
I am from Canada and I plan to go to India either from the UK or from Greece via Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan. I will continue on to Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and back to Greece and then fly back to Canada.
Maybe we could coordinate.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
