London to Oz
Looking for a partner or even two to travel to Oz in the early part of next year. In the early stages of sorting out the trip, not sure on which bike so would appreciate any recommendations, I'm 5'8" weighing 13 st, have only ridden sports/tourers in the past. Any tips on route would be appreciated.

Hi Ern,
I'm off to Australia next year. I'm leaving UK around March and hoping to get to Perth by October and then have a month or two around Australia.
I'm riding an XT600 and intend on using the usual Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia route.
E mail me and let me know your plans, Maybe we can sort something out.

Hi Ern, We're a husband and wife duo leaving UK around the end of April next year on an R100GS. We are setting a very leisurely pace and intend to take a couple of years to reach Oz. Our route is (this week anyway!!) Down through Europe, Hungary, Rumania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal then ship to Bangkok, KL,or Singapore, then Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and if we can Cambodia and then Vietnam. Then the plan is to head for KL and ship to Brisbane and spend the third year in Oz. Bike choice is a very personal thing. If I were going on my own I'd probably go on an Africa Twin, Dominator, KTM Adventure (which I had before the BM, but was not suitable for a long two up trip) or the BM I have now.

If anyone would like any information about travelling in Australia, feel free to contact me and I'll try and point you in the right direction. At the moment, I've been limited to short tours (just arrived back from 3 weeks in Tasmania) but I've toured NSW, Victoria and parts of QLD so should be of some help.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
