Looking for riding companion: Pamir Highway/Bartang Valley mid June
Hey People,
Iam riding from Munich, Germany to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on my GS starting in two weeks. Iam looking for a companion for the more challenging stages, for example Pamir Highway/Bartang Valley.
Routing:
Germany-Balkans-Turkey (April)-Georgia-Armenia,Russia,Kazakhstan (May)-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan(June, July).
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Johannes

Hi,
I will be riding my GS to Australia from Amsterdam this year. I will leave in the 2nd or 3rd week of May and will be going through Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Stans, China, Pakistan etc. My China crossing is on the 3rd of September.
I'm Dutch by the way.
You're leaving earlier than me but maybe we can meet along the way :-) Send me a PM if you want to add me on FB or whatever.
Cheers,
Bento

Hey Bento,
Sounds like a cool trip. I can‘t send PMs because I haven‘t made 3 posts yet í ½í¹„. Would be happy to meet on the way. Unfortunately, looking at the timing of the intineraries it seems unlikely

Also doing that same route, also times may differ... I am now in Greece, and I'll be heading east next week (maybe the week after)
I am crossing China on August, 13th. Until then I'll be riding through Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Pamir is of course in my list.
Cheers
Samuel

Probably a stupid question, but... what's the situation with getting fuel on that road? I don't imagine there are too many petrol stations.

Not a stupid question at all. Really depends on the country. Generally speaking not a massiv problem. Can be an issue though for example in Uzbekistan (vehicles apparently generally run on natural gas). I guess key is planing and a decent range of your bike i.e. ~400km.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
