Mombasa to Cape Town autumn 2010
Hi guys,
I am planning a trip in September 2010 from Mombasa to Cape Town. Time is limited, around 4 to 5 weeks. My very rough planning intends to visit Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. My bike can do some light gravel roads (heavy off-road is not an option)

Anybody interested to join?

Robert,
I'd very much like to join you for a while somewhere around that time, if my plans work out.
We leave in a month from London, and September next year should see us somewhere on your route, perhaps close to Cape Town.
What do you think of your XBR?
I've had one since new, 1986. Now close to 80,000 miles (128,000km). Engine never been touched and it's still a joy to ride. I did consider it for this trip, but it's still 100% original and I didn't want to do the modifications that would be necessary.
So I'd like to join you somewhere just to ride along with your XBR!
Keep in touch
Ken

Hi Ken,
sounds great. In my opinion, my XBR is THE bike for long distance driving. It has 295000km on the clock and never let me down. At the moment, a big revision is planned to prepare her for that challenging trip.
If you want to sneak into my last year's trip (sorry, in German only):
Roberts XBR Seite
My XBR underwent a lot of modifications and is well equipped for long trips, however I have to give in when the road gets really sandy or the rocks get too big.
Will you maintain a web presentation during your trip?

It’s nice to go places, especially when you are looking for a new adventure and fun. Going to Cape Town means exploring and discovering this paradise here on earth.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
