Morocco Sept-Oct 2012
Hi
I'm planning to spend two weeks in Morocco at the end of September. Likely to arrive in Algeciras, riding from Munich, around 22/23 September. I need to be back in Spain around 06/07 October to ride via Portugal to Zurich.
My plan is in the outline stages but is basically a week to ride through the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, a few days there and then a quick ride back via the coast. I had hoped to get an extra week to ride down to Mauritania but the FCO advice suggests that isn't a wise move at the moment. If it changes, I would hope to arrive a week earlier.
A little about me:
I'll be 54 by then, ride an F800GS, usually plan 180-250 mile days when riding in Europe although have done bigger days on the autoroutes if I need to get somewhere. Previous trips have been around 75% hotels and 25% camping but they've all been in Europe.
It'd be great to link up with anyone interested in joining me for all or part of the route.

My dates are now set:
Leave Madrid Friday, 21st September
Cross Algeciras to Cueta Saturday, 22nd September and ride through the Atlas mountians
Aim to arrive Marrakech Friday, 28th September
Probably leave Marrakech Wednesday, 3rd October
Plan to cross back Cueta to Algeciras Friday, 5th October, travel north via Portugal and across to Zurich to arrive Saturday, 13th October
Would be great to have some company there or back, or both!

Looks like fun. My problem is dates. I'm flexible on route, in fact just about everything else but can't move dates so can't leave Madrid before 20th September and have to be back in Zurich by 13th October. I guess there's tougher problems in life. Maybe catch you en route somewhere.

So, this a happening thing!
Crossing Algeciras to Ceuta midday on Saturday, 22 September with a week to ride to Marrakech (probably) via Chefchaouen, Fes, Errachida, Merzouga, Boulemane Du Dades and Todra, arriving Friday, 28th September.
We're probably two, maybe three riders from Algeciras to Marrakech.
I will stay in Marrakech for four days (wife flying in for a long weekend) and head out on Wednesday, 3rd October, directly back to Ceuta for a ferry crossing on the afternoon of Thursday, 4th October giving me nine days to ride to Zurich via Portugal, Madrid and a day in Muret.
Looking forward to seeing anyone on the road when we are.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
