MYANMAR MAY 2014 (Thailand>Burma>India)
Crossing Burma comes up in this forum on an almost weekly basis and how it is and isn't possible.
Now it can be definitively said that it can be done provided your cheque book is big enough.
I'm looking to put a group together to minimise these costs for an approx 10 day crossing by motorcycle (or car) at the start of May 2014 from Myawaddy to Tamu.
Price will depend on numbers, but a group of at least 5 would keep things reasonable.
Just need a few more people to make this work!
So if you're interested, let me know
Tim

Yeah Tim definately keen that timing seems to me? perfect to cross all the way to the EU at a leisurely pace. I have quit my job and have the funds and bike just need to get the rest sorted. I dont think i could really commit to a date until my my bike and me are in Timor leste but just registering my interest. Do you have a vague idea of the cost involved?

Hi Shane,
Cost will ultimately depend on numbers and duration of crossing. Most of the groups kicking round at the moment with 5+ people seem to be priced in the region of $1-2K inclusive of guides, accommodation etc for about 8-9 days.
So I'm obviously hoping to get enough numbers to keep the costs on the lower side.
I'm shipping my bike from Darwin to Dili on the 22nd at this stage and then taking it pretty slow up to Thailand. Where are you starting and when do you plan on shipping?

I have 2 superbikes im desperately trying to sell atm and have to say goodbye to family back in Nz hope to be about a month behind you, was thinking id have time to do Nrth thai and Loas but time is getting away. It would be through Indo and straight to burma if possible just to catch you. I would love to go through burma and that part of India

There are 3 of us on 2 motorcycles wanting to cross Myanmar around the beginning of May also & are interested in joining your group if you have one to reduce costs.

At the moment Im stting in Alice Springs waiting for the Toll ship to depart which has been delayed several times now.
If this group was certain to head across Myanmar at the start of May. I could fly my bike straight to Bangkok and join it.. please let me know if there is a chance this group will go. Thanks Shane

Myanmar
We are also very interested in joining a group through Birma. Are the dates fixed already as we would prefer second half of May??
Prices you mentioned are indeed very steep, but let's hope a lot of people can make this a bit lower.
We are traveling in a Toyota Landcruiser around the globe for more than 4 years already and apart from crossing a country we would also like to see something more of the country. Seems that this trip is offering what we need. Please let us know more details.
