Bud,
I will be in the area around that time. I'm leaving home Jan 15 or there about. I don't think I will be in CR on the first of Feb, though. Probably a week or so later.
Keep in touch and maybe I'll see you on the road.

A few overlanders we met in South America that are heading north are planning to meet in Panama for Christmas 2002. If you want to find out where/when, send us an email.
Erin & I are shipping in from Venezuela, and the others are shipping in from Ecuador and Colombia.
Not sure about New Years -- maybe Costa Rica if not too expensive. We will all be heading north in Jan, so will likely bump into you on the road.
Suerte,
Chris & Erin Ratay

Baja- Brazil
Leaving early Jan if all goes well (may cross border as early as Jan1, or as late as Jan 20). 3-4 months. Riding an XR650L well set up and packed light for maximum dirtability. Leaving from here (San Francisco), crossing to Baja , all of Baja dirtstyle, then ferry to mainland from Cabo, then south. I dont know if I'll get all the way to Rio, but thats the general plan. Cheap hotels/guesthouses, etc. I am a good mechanic, and like to go with the flow with some locations in mind rather than have a rigid itinerary. I enjoy a brisk but mostly sane riding pace. Looking for someone to join all or part of trip. I am 37 and pretty easy going
Peace
Lucien

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
