Pamir Highway in August 2019
Hello,
I’m seeing if anyone is interested or already planning to go through the Pamir Highway loop from Osh in August or early September. I have a KLR 650 in Osh, Kyrgyzstan and am planning to do it, but would prefer to not have to do it alone due to the elevation and possible breakdowns.
I am hoping to do it in 8-10 days. I would like to go through the Wakhan valley, and if it is passable, the Bartang Valley on the way back.
I think I have “intermediate” offroad experience, but I’m not a crazy offroader. I’ve ridden Baja, around SE Asia, through Russia and Mongolia. I would like to do some camping along the way, but stay in homestays where appropriate.
My ideal timeline would be around August 4-14, but can do it later as well, but before the weather gets too cold. If you are planning a similar route around that time and wouldn’t mind some company, please message me and we can see if we can work something out.
Summary of plan:
Time plan: August 2018 (8-10 days, flexible)
Rough route plan: Osh -> Wakhan Valley -> Khorog -> Bartang Valley (optional) -> Osh map of area
Motorcycle: Kawasaki KLR650
Accommodation: some camping / homestays
Thanks!
Dominik.

Hi Dominik
I'll be in and around Kyrgyzstan / Tajikistan in August and have a similar itinerary to you. I wrote this a little while ago: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hu...r-2019-a-98525
Let's stay in touch. Maybe send a email / PM to swap social media details? I don't come here very often.

I'll be doing the same down from Osh but probably at a slower pace on a GSXR600
Not sure on dates are yet, probably looking like mid to late August

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
