RIDING From BANGKOK To SAIGON - Through Cambodia / Anyone interested?

From BANGKOK To SAIGON - Through Cambodia /
Anyone interested?

Date: October 2018

Hello there.....
This is a call to everyone who is thinking of, or has already planned to ride into Vietnam on a legal way. ("legal" means, without attempting to enter that wonderful country with no proper docs and papers).

Vietnam is known for being usually banned to be entered by motorcyclists crossing borders overland. No matter where you are entering from (Laos, Cambodia, ...let alone China), or if you are alone or in a group, bikers with a foreign plate are never welcome, unless.....
We have a way to ride into Vietnam on a motorcycle and are looking for fellow bikers who want to share the cost of it.

Please, if you read this call and want to join us, send us a message.
Our dates are quite flexible but we estimate to be a the Cambodia/Vietnam border not later than October 10th, 2018.

Waiting for your feedback soon.
Best,
Frank V

Hi Frank,

I know I'm a little late to join your group as I am stuck in Mongolia currently.

But I am looking for info for entering Laos/Vietnam by motorcycle, so your post caught my eye.

How is this possible please?

Many thanks, Mark

So were you successful?

Hello Frank:

Entering Vietnam on a motorbike has long been a "fluid" situation. Some overlanders have been successful by hiring a Vietnam guide to meet them at the border (Laos) after having a Vietnam tour company secure the needed paperwork/permits and arrange for the guide.

Questions 1 and 2:

Were you successful in entering by riding into Vietnam?

What size motorbike(s) were in your group?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
