San Diego - Cabo San Lucas and back, 31May-6June

Hi,
I’ll be traveling on 08 KLR650 (two up) from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas; departing 31st of May and returning through Tecate on 6th of June. The route though Baja is not certain, however, mainly on roads. If anyone is going the same way, we would not mind sharing a part of the ride.

Smile San Diego to Cabo.....????

You wanna crank out that ride in that short a period of time? Why bother? There are so many things to see in Baja that if you're going to go, take your time. I would say three weeks. There is this great cut off that goes to a high desert town called San Francisco something or other that is a day in and of itself. Look on a good baja map and don't cut yourself short. We're planning a trip from San Francisco to Costa Rica with two months in mind. Besides, you never know what's gonna happen....and get the crappy stock seat changed or you'll be sorry. Been there, done that on a KLR 650.

baja

Agree with Dwight

Shortest highway route San Diego - Cabos is approx 1700 km or 1000 miles. 6 days there and back approx 570 km 330 mile / day. The highways good and there are miles of open stretches, but also miles of winding roads futher south as it follow thre coast, where your mileage per day will be down.

Sierra San Francesco is about half way down, but the oasis at San Ingnacio is also good as a cut off point.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
