San Francisco to Tierra del Fuego starting Nov.
Hey riders,
I'm planning a trip south starting in November, leaving San Francisco, destination- bottom of SA. I'll be on a BMW F800gs with Heidenau tires and minimal luggage- I want to get in some good dirt riding whenever possible...
If anyone is interested in joining for some of the fun- hit me up!
Cheers,
Bill

Mate,
Wrong time to leave! Unless you are just going to rush down the Panam and get to the tip before it gets unbearable (late March). Also, on the way down you don't want to go inland as it is hail and snow tie in the Andes (Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia) and pouring rain in the Amazon Dec to March. May thru Sept in the Andes is delightful!
ONLY if you rush down the Pacific coast (mostly boring desert (Peru and Chile) to Tierra del Fuego FIRST, then meander your way back up to Ecuador via inland routes...
Not trying to rain on your parade... but have you thot this thru???

Hello Bill,
I will be leaving for SA mid October from just outside Vancouver, but on the way down I will be attending the Horizons Unlimited Travellers Meeting being held in Cambria, CA. The dates are the 18th – 21st of October. Maybe you are already aware of the meeting, or maybe not. Either way why not ride down for all of it or just part of it? Great chance to talk, listen, meet and greet! I am sure there will be others South America bound. I have been to two HU meetings in B.C. and they are, besides being a lot of fun, the perfect place to gather useful info. Anyway, food for thought. Maybe see you there,
Regards, Mike.

Vancouver to Buenos Aires
September 1 st. I (I am from the Netherlands)will start in Vancouver my trip south on a BMW R80 G/S. Planning is to arrive in Buenos Aires in september 2013..............
Want to stay in Canada and North America till the end of this year and then to go through Central America starting january 2013.
I'm in no hurry so maybe I'll arrive in the Andes in May?
I had planned to go to the HU meeting in California in October , so with some luck I can find someone (or maybe a few more?) who is (are) willing to ride together through the Central America countries (Mexico, El Salvador Nicaragua Costa Rica and Panama . Overhere in Europe we have heard that specially when riding alone there is a higher risk...)
Don't know what the weather conditions are in Columbia ,Bolivia and Peru in the beginning of the year ?Hope to have some fair weather in Bolivia ,Chili and Argentina in june july and august.????????
Hope to hear from someone who is interested
(I'm DUTCH, male, 65 years old, married and a pensionado(!@#!??)

Hi Bill,
My ETA SFO will be Oct. 24. I will surely look you up if you can leave me your contact by PM. I have a KLR650A there of which I used it to do round trip coast to coast last year.
I think you will get your fair share of dirt adventure down south.
Cheers,
Franki

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
