Plenty of travelers starting off South this time of year. But if I were you I'd turn around NOW and head North to HU California travelers meeting:
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...sep-21-a-89711
I'm sure at least a few of the attendees will be planning on heading South ... how far? How long? Dunno, but it's a start. A great meet and lots of learn and share.
If you don't hook up with other travelers you will see more in Baja at the key choke points. Still pretty hot down there but cooling late in the month ... with luck.

Thanks Mollydog. I should have planned a bit better and spent a few more days in northern California soo i could make the meeting. Oh well, other than the heat more time in Mexico can't be a bad thing

From San Diego you can be in Mariposa at the meeting in about 4 hours riding. Head North on i-5, cut off onto 99 just after Grapevine, ride up to 140, go EAST to Mariposa.
You won't regret it. Inland Baja at this point will still be pretty hot. Coastal areas will be OK. By the time you get back from HU meeting, things may be cooling down a bit. Either way, have fun.

Beautiful area around Todos Santos!
We are having a cooling off around here as well. (NorCal). Very cool nights and Fall like conditions, some gusty wind. So no surprise Baja Sur is now cooler too. This season maybe an early Fall?
You can have the gusty Desert winds in October and November too but temps should be perfect! !Que le via bien!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
