South on the coast to Baja California and beyond - Jan 18
I'm heading south from San Jose through LA, San Diego and on to the Baja on my BMW F800GS. Long term goal is down the east coast of SA to Buenos Aires. Happy to meet new people or take hostel or camping recommendations! Check out my blog for up-to-date info on my route.

I'm considering heading down sometime in March. Feed back on your trip would be great if you get the opportunity.
Thanks,
Ron

I'm heading down south from Northern California beginning of February and have similar goals as you. Was planning to check out world cup in Brasil before Argentina.

Where are you leaving from? I'm also on KLR650 and like yourself leaving in 10-15 days. Maybe we can connect at some point?

anyone near me in Huatulco/Puerto Escondido area. Canuck on an 1100RT looking for buddies/buddettes to ride to all or some of the following: Yucatan/Belize/Guatemala and not particularly in that order. Heading east in a few days (unless you want to meet in Puerto Escondido; it rocks!). Let me know ASAP.
BTW I can hook you up with cheap but deluxe accomm where Im at. Might mention that the dude landlady also helped me out with some much needed repairs. Also a fine empty beach where I'm currently staying if you want to catch your breath before taking off from Huatulco.

Have you had any luck meeting up with any riders heading south or into Belize/ Guatemala?
Are you doing lots of camping or just the occasional evening/ night!
Is it worth packing the tent, mat, sleeping bag?
Finally, any bargains on the tequila the further south you go?

There are some nice campgrounds in Baja California (and Sur) increasing in concentration the further south you go. It's also easy to find a private place off of the highway to set up a tent if that's your style.
Also, I found this: Our Top 12 Camping Spots in Mexico Part 1: Baja | Capitol Southbound
Which references Church's guide to camping in mexico, a so-called bible that I couldn't find in San Diego.
I'll keep an eye on you guys to see if we end up around each other. I'm going ot arrive in La Paz tomorrow.

Hey Leo, sorry for late reply. I've been down with bad case of flu and had to push my departure date for few weeks. I will be leaving from San Francisco on February 15th or few days before. Should be in LA two days after and than head to Mexican border. Let me know if these dates are similar to yours.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
