This route is 90% dirt....minimal pavement....can you imagine...what a way to view America.....it's a dual sport ride for sure. I don't want to do it alone...any takes for June or July???

Lizanne I am planning to do this in June. I would love the company. It seems we have simular bikes so it will be great to have help in the difficult parts of the trail. I will have a 4-5 week time frame. Looking at the trail I believe this is a very do-able time frame. anyhow if you are interested in a partner here I am ..Also my bike will be new and just 600m serviced so it will be fun to break it in on the trail. I also like camping alot so if you decide to get to gther for this ride then we will have to work out the logistics. Let me know.....Ken

Heading out in July
I'm heading out on the trail early July. Starting in Pittsburgh on July 5th and then heading strait down to the trailhead..should be there by the 8th. Doing the entire trail and then heading up into Alaska...will be riding a KLR.
If anyone is departing a bit later let me know....like everybody...would love the help from some other riders when the going gets tough. Cheers, CK

Trans-american info needed
Hey:
Who has maps or GPS information on the Trans-America and were do I get this information?
Let me know when you have a moment. I am doing the Continental Divide Ride in July and would love to add this to my itinerary.

street leagal?
pkenny,I hate to throw cold water on your plan, but XR-400s sold in the U.S.A. are not street licenceable. I know some folks have gotten around this with Baja Design kits and the like. But as standard, you can't jump on and go. I'd recomend you go for a Drz-400 S or if you are a dyed in the wool Honda guy then a XRL-650 will do you.

I know a few peeps
I know of a couple of people looking at doing this, but in Polaris RZRs, not bikes, so I don't know if you'd be interested in me letting them know.
I suppose they could carry your kit, though?
