It's true we're cheating but it was never our goal to tic boxes of country's we've been to :-)

In abidjan we stayed at a place on route to bassam called espace bassam. A big orange wall 3000cfa to pitch your tent.
Closer to the border at assini ( assouinda beach)is jardin l'eden. Didn't have to pay anything just eat a meal (very good) at the restaurant. Nice beach!!

We will be in Accra in four or five days. Will go to big Millie's campground. You can find it on google. They have a website.

I can only say you missed out on the most beautiful countries of west africa which are Mali and Burkina

Try and stop at ezile bay on your way down to Accra. Supposed to be a very nice beach place. That's around busua.

screw that! cheaters! I'm calling the Overland Committee of Claims and Dirty Deeds.

Accra - Angola and DRC were both pretty easy. Angola only took 3 days. Have a letter explaining what your doing and bullet point day by day itinerary while in Angola. DRC says you have to be a resident but caves pretty quickly if you nicely tell him your story.

Lome - RO Congo - easy - while you wait! Gabon - pretty easy. but don't wear shorts or open toe sandals or they won't let you in
I had a very quick shopping trip at the local market. Benin - easy, same day. Lady is pretty grumpy.

hey guys - if anyone is behind me headed for the Congos - here is some info on the crossing to DRC from RO Congo:

I heard that folks were having some trouble at both the Boko and Brazzaville crossings for not having their visa issued in their home country, so I went for the crossing near Mindouli.

Firstly, the road leading up to the crossing and thereafter is really gnarly, especaill if its wet at all. I slid down and got stuck in huge ruts a couple of times and other parts I rode when it was reletively dry that I don't know if I would have pulled them all if it was wet. Definitely better not to be alone.

I can't really recommend this crossing anyway since I had some real trouble getting through. The guys there are now savy to the residency requirement for the visa. They are actually pretty nice and it really seemed like they were dealing with a directive from higher up. The only reason I was allowed to pass at all was that I convinced them that I was a resident in Accra when I got the visa, even though I had no documentation. If you can fake up a residency permit for Ghana, that may do the trick. I total I spent 5 hours there while they phoned higher-ups and waiting for return call asking if they could let me pass.

Options are becoming very limited for DRC!

Sweet. I'm planning on picking my DRC visa up in Lome. I know you can become a resident quite easily to get the visa there. I was wondering about the resident permit. Best to get armed with everything you can when you get to the border.

One of my friends has just left DRC too. He also got the visa in Lome. Said there was no problems at all.

In Lome, you can get a six month resident's permit from the police/immigration office in the centre of town. I have the coordinates if you have any difficulty or there'll be loads of people at Chez Alice who know the form.
