Travelling througt China from Mongolia, Tibet to Khyrgistan June/July 2017
I want to travelling througt China with my car around June, July 2017 from Mongolia, Tibet to Khyrgistan (or in the other direction). I have not detailed the route yet, but I want to visit Tibet. I am planning to be in China for about 30 days.
If you want to do a similar trip, it would be nice to join.
Because I drive by myself, the guide could drive in my car, so there will be no additional cost for a additional car.
I'm looking for other travelers with car or motorcyclists.
I’m Martin, 35, from Switzerland, driving a Toyota Landcruisser.
Best wishes,
Martin

China to Europe through Khyrgistan
Hi Martin,
We are 3 Chinese riders, planning to ride from China to Europe through Khyrgistan, Russia and Eastern Europe (the Silk Road) if you are keen to ride with us PM.
There is also a trip we are planning to Tibet in April(TBC). As a foreigner you will need a special permit to get to Tibet.
When will you be in China?
Regards,
Simon

From my understanding yes you need a guide in China, being part of a tour group will easily solve this, you do not have to stay with the group you could do 50% with them then exit on your own.
I am keen for feedback on this.

Travelling with Chinese national
Sorry if this question has been answered before.
If one is lucky enough to know any Chinese citizens who are traveling, do you still need to hire a guide if you are traveling with them from border to border? I am a US citizen. In other words, can a regular Chinese citizen qualify as your guide? Or do they need some sort of governmental certification and or license to act as your "official" guide and be legal? If certification is required, does anyone know what that entails?
Thanks for your input.
