Uk- Turkey may2021
This year was going to be my first year touring wife had her test booked in March was going to do a weeks tour in uk and a week in Spain this year then a 3 week trip to Norway next year (2021). She’s now had her test cancelled 3 times cos of COVID her next date is 23 September so I’ve scrapped those plans. So last night she suggested a week in Icmeler turkey where we’ve been a few times before, and said why don’t I go down on my bike and meet her there. So like I said no touring experience so looking for any advice help hints tips route suggestions confidence boosters and kicks up the arse to do it. Or if anyone is travelling that route then maybe we could meet up

I was heading to Lake Van eastern Turkey end of May this year but obviously it didn't happen! I've been to Turkey a couple of times on my motor bike, usualy staying a while in Kas further east along the coast from Icmeler. A nice way to go for you on entering Turkey is down the E87 and catch the ferry to Canakkale, stop the night there and then you could get to Icmeler the following day. I am planning on going May 2021 now, obviously depending on what happens. I usualy just leg it to eastern Europe staying at hostels or other cheap accomodation. I'll be going through Istanbul this time but if you want to team up part the way it's fine by me, if you want any info: PM me.

Thanks for that I’ll message you when I’ve worked things out like routes and getting time off work. Would you say 10 days travel time would be comfortable? I was thinking get passed Germany quick then more scenic route after that

You should be able make it to Icmeler easily in 10 days depending on type of bike, traffic problems, weather and any unpredictable issues

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
