Across the Bering Strait BMW GS RTW
Hello,
Will be traveling via GS, 2up and in lieu of going to Europe direct, I will be attempting to Ferry, or fly my bike to Magadan. Does anyone know of a way across the Bering strait? Would prefer a ferry.
Thanks,
Will

Ferry???
Dood----They don't run ferrys between the US and Russia....What the heck would they carry?? Best bet, Japan. They have to get all those stolen cars and bikes to Vladivostok somehow. Good luck and carry plenty of 100 ruble notes for all the "traffic tickets".

You're right, ferry would only be good for PEOPLE......and RTW types. Not much profit there. (Per your PM to me.)
However, after some research, I found that there is in fact a air route going directly to Magadan from Anchorage. The airline is Magadan airlines.
I will not now or ever use a travel agency or globeriders. I love Helge Pederson like a brother (have partied with him, closed TWO campground with him once) But his agency is great for others
Real life is not a movie, but it can be pretty close to a documentary.
My trip has been in the dream stage for over 9 years, and has now entered the planning stage. I figure I should get it all worked out in 2 years. I will leave on my daughters 18th Birthday (that week anyway.)

Wikipedia needs to update more often. They are open for business according to Yelena a very nice Russian (type) girl that answered at their number. There will be flights beginning in June 2007 according to Yelena.
Thanks

What information, supposedly factual, should Wikipedia have published?
Is the airline currently operating?
If not why would it start back operations in June and not August, if at all?
Do you have alternative plans if they do not operate as you hope>

Several bikers has used Magadan Airlines between Magadan and Ancorage and vice versa.
Good luck!
