Alternative green card insurance
Rather than bury this message somewhere in an existing green card thread, I'd like to start a new thread. this could be useful for me and I hope it will be for others, too.
I had my Land Rover Defender insured for Europe (green card) with Tour Insure, Hamburg, dealing there with someone called Heidemarie Munsky. Then I had a break in the cover and am now insured with them again, though the cover has been farmed out to AXA, Köln. For the first month I paid 208 Euros; subsequent months cost 89 Euros. If there's a break, then it goes back to "new policy" status, i.e. 208 again.
We live now in a hard, if not brutal, commercial world, sometimes scarcely recognisable as the same world I was born into, but perhaps there still is an insurer around who will issue a green card at a lower rate and who doesn't make one feel that they want as much from the insurer as they can possibly get and get away with. If so, I'd be really glad to know their contact details.
Thanks.

Available info on alternative Green Card providers is already available in
previous HUBB threads.
There have been price/ premium increases by all underwriters & agents, not just TourInsure/ AXA, but you might try
Welcome to motosapiens.org | motosapiens.org
for lower rates.
You need to email or call them for quote & info, because it's not posted
as part of the website.

But the other thread is a sticky so it will be more accessible in the future than this one.
I can see that you are dealing here with a 4x4, but many of the "motorcycle" threads are equally applicable to other forms of transport.

I haven't gone back to the sticky to check, but I don't recall that motosapiens is mentioned in the sticky thread as a provider of green card insurance - if not, you might like to post this info in there (or just do a link to this thread?).
ps OK, I've looked back and motosapiens is in there, kind of!
(around post number 195 - 200 or thereabouts).

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
