Argentina motor bike insurance at the boarder?

Hiya,
Am I correct in my understanding that insurance is mandatory in Argentina?

If it is, is it easily purchased at the boarder?

It looks like I am headed to the dreaded ruta 14 where all the police stops are and would like to have all my paperwork in order.

cheers
Susan

The answer is yes you need ins. and most borders have it. However some do not e.g. Paso pino Hachado. Having said this the only time last jan/feb when I was there that Argentinian border officials asked for it was at the above mentioned crossing and I crossed something like 6 times.(tdf etc.)

The cost of this ins. iirc is approx $35 usd. for 10 days.

Good luck and I hope this helps....

solo obligatorio contra terceros

Hola Susana

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
