Best 'Route' for vehicle Insurance; Help!
Hi there,
I am currently in the unenviable position of insuring our vehicle ( and selves ) for an overland trip to UB, Mongolia and back through the stans this summer in a modified 110 station wagon.
What is the best way of going about this? Over the three months of our trip we are only spending about 2 1/2 weeks in europe, aka in Green Card territory and in UK vehicle insurance territory.
As I understand, for many of the countries in central asia you must buy vehicle insurance on the border as obviously, such countries are not covered by UK insurers. Does Russia apply to this as well?
As you can probably see by my jumbled message, I don't really know where to start, but it revolves mainly around whether we should apply for temporary insurance for the EU and avoid the rest of our trip or try and insure ourselves for some ludicrous price for the whole of it.
We clearly favour the former option considerably, but at the end of the day we are simply trying to get through the border/customs of each country.
Thanks very much in advance,
Tom
