Bosnia insurance? Any updates?
I've read the threads I found by searching, but are there any recent updates to the info on buying insurance at the border?
I'm with eBike and they have gone quiet on the subject of BiH and adding it (at cost) to my policy?

I have been through twice in the last four years and both times it cost 10 euro for 30 days insurance on the boarder. The last time was in 2006. I have heard of riders being charged more. I am not sure it is cost difference between insurance companies, corruption or incompetence. But they should be able to prove the cost to you on a tariff sheet.
There was a news story two weeks ago about possible fighting Kosovo. Montenegro is now independent but Serbia wants to retain sovereignty over Kosovo.
I think there are restrictions on travel from Kosovo to Serbia, but not the other way.
Check out up to date information on the travel info at the foreign office web site

Just done a quick check on the FO travel and found this.
======================
On 28 October 2007, there was a demonstration that attempted to block the border crossing between Croatia and Bosnian & Herzegovina at Neum. Neum is on the main coastal highway (E45) that runs between Split and Dubrovnik and onwards to Montenegro. It is possible that there will more demonstrations at this border crossing in the weeks to come. You are advised to check this Travel Advice if you intend to use this route in the near future.

Good travels

Cheers Steve.
I've been told many different prices but want to give it a go, but at €10 for 30 days seems like almost like a gift!
Not going until August 2008 but like to get the paper side of things all sorted well in advance.
I'll enter from the north from Hungary and then meet a former workmate in Banja Luka, then out the bottom as have a pre-arranged meeting with some other former workmates in Split!
Not enough time to see all that much, although I guess a day and half in reality in BiH.

I rode croatia into BiH about 2/3 weeks ago on the road up to Mostar, where Bih has access to ther sea. charge for Green Card was 20Euro, I only had 15E so boardergard "10kn (1pound) for me then" easy took 5min to sort out. I turned back as was heavy snow up the road from Mostar. But like I said this was 2/3 weeks ago might be gone now, but chances are its colder still. Either way I loved Bosnia. Mostar I found facinating, the people are very open and you can learn alot about what happen in the area by talking to them. Have a great time

My dutch green card just has it on the card, no hassle.
I was not asked at the border either. I did take a small border crossing from Serbia though.

Had a brainwave, doesn't happen that often so I need to tell you about it...
Check on the FIM site for the Bosnian equiv of ACU/BMF and emailed them!
This is the reply and it concerns my proposed access to Bosnia from the north. A bit more re-assuring.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
