I'm from Canada and want to know if I should get a Carnet for Central America...down to Panama. Will this be cheeper in the long run if I get one and less hassel at the boarder?
Thanks John.

I haven't been that way yet, but Grant said it's confirmed to be completely carnet free. Ecuador was the last hold out, I think.

I rode through all the CA countries except El Salvador in'03 without a carnet and had no major hassles. Took a couple hours to cross most borders. No one ever mentioned a carnet at any of the borders. From my experience I would say don't bother.
There are a few pictures on the site in my sig you might find interesting.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
