There is insurance available at the border.
Do not forget to fill up your tank as Ceuta is tax free zone. Fuel is cheaper than in Spain and much cheaper than in Northern Morroco ( In the Far South it is cheaper again)

Catch an early morning boat from Spain - there is nothing of note in Ceuta - and go straight to the border. On my last trip it took 45 minutes at the border. Up to you if you want a 'guide'. How good is your french reading? Just be patient, there is sure to be someone to help you... and do things their way...

And don't do a 'EWEY' and forget your registration document... or you'll feel a right Charlie.

From what I remember it looks like organised chaos at the border but its all quite straightforward and took us about an hour to get our papers. Like any border, don't take any photos though - someone did when we were there and had their camera confiscated.....
There are a number of "official" helpers at the border (with plastic passes round their necks) who you are expected to tip if you use. We used one and he was genuinely helpful in getting us through the paperwork, although its all doable without one.
I'd get a green card in the UK if you can. I got one from Norwich Union and it was a lot cheaper than getting it at the border, which my colleagues did (they paid 80 euros for 4 weeks I think?).
Best first night stop is Chechaouen (about 3 hours from the border I think), at the edge of the Rif mounains. Great little relaxed town - campsite on the hill above the town if you need it.
Have fun - Moroccan pistes are the business!!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
