Exported UK Bike - MOT question
Hi there,
I've left the UK in 2012, now in Italy after a stint in Bolivia. I'd like to have my bike (kawasaki 1200 ZRX) registered in Italy, the Italian DVLA is asking me for a valid UK MOT since the bike still has UK Plate. Only problem is that the bike has been out of the UK and I've sent the DVLA the EXPORT part of the registration back in 2012.
Question is: if I take the bike to FOlkestone and go to an MOT centre, will I be able to get a regular MOT or will it pop up that the bike is no longer un the DVLA database?
Thanks for any help.

Take it to an MOT station and ask them to put down the chassis number instead of registration number, the Italians should accept that. There is a thread here about the same thing for a different reason.

I think you might have a problem here, even with the Frame No. All MOT stations are now computer centralised with Swansea, and exported vehicles are flagged on the data base, including the frame numbers. Entering the frame number into the system will give the same `` negative`` and not allow the tester to proceed with issuing a certificate, and the system can not be manually over-ridden.
Effectively your bike no longer exists as you took it off the UK register and haven`t re registered it elsewhere. You might have to re-import it to the U.K. before you can export it again to Italy.

Using the chassis number allows an MOT to be carried out on vehicles that are not on the DVLA system, presumably including those that have been removed as well as those that have never been on it, the computerised system allows this, I have done it as did the chap in the post I put the link to.

Actually the 'motorizzazione' might only be asking for a valid UK MOT because if you have one it saves you from having the bike Mot'ed locally, ( although I think at some point they will want to check that your head light dips in the right direction ) .
It might be worth making sure that having a valid Mot is really a requirement . when I imported a bike from Slovenia I was told that both options were available, in my case a translated Slovenian Mot certificate turned out to be more practical to obtain but I was assured that I could perfectly well have taken the bike to the 'Motorizzazione' office to have it Mot'd if I had wanted.
(Once I had gone through all the import paperwork, I mean. The final numberplate and Italian reg. documents would only have been issued once the bike had passed the Italian MOT though.....just to clarify)

you are right donmanolo, with a valid UK MOT you don't need to have the bike COLLAUDATA. Hence my request.
