Carnet and stolen bike
A simple but very important question:
What happens if,during my travel in a place requesting the carnet de passage, (IRan) my bike is stolen?
I read the NewYork convention of 1954 and it seems that i'm going to loose the deposit (12.000 EUR for my BMW !!!) and my touring association is confirming that.
That seems strange to me, as the fact that a bike can be stolen is not often.. but it MAY happen... and loose 12.000EUR should not happen in my life!!!
Carnet are used every day by travellers, so it seems that i'm forgetting something.
Probably this "loss" due to a bike stolen can be insured... or what else?
Is my first trip in a country requiring Carnet and I'm already changing my mind not to go...
HELP!!!
