Normally, an extended carnet can only be used in the country where it has been extended. The cost will be about the same as a new carnet, except you don't have to pay the horrendous courier charge. Extension also requires cooperation of the AA in the country visited. In your case that would be Indonesia. Bad idea.
I suggest you delay your crossing to Indo, contact the RAC immediately for a follow-on carnet. You may be able to get it fairly quickly. You only return the old carnet once you have entered Indo on the new carnet.
