If I remember the kansas laws they give you your plate when you pay your fees. If he had an adress in Kansas ie yours, it shouldnt be a problem. If you live in on the Missouri side I am not sure. It has also been a few years since I lived in Kansas so things may have changed. When you are there I wouldnt bring up the fact he is only traveling through and not living in the US. He is after all here legally. I'm not saying lie, just dont bring up the subject if they dont. . For an adress he can also go rent a mail box at mail boxes etc. God luck.

Hi kcfire! Good seeing you at the meet this year again. If you let Vladimir use your address as his "own" he should be able to purchase a bike and register it and get the title. In Washington State its very easy, but the Title is mailed to you at the address you stated and that can take up to two weeks. Your state may do things a little differently, but he doesn't need to be a permanent resident (green card) or have a state issued driver's license to purchase and register/title a vehicle.

Hi, Daniel,
It takes up to 6 weeks for the title to get back here in Missouri. He should be in Mexico before that. The other problem is the license. He cannot use his foreign license with the Missouri title legally. As I said, he is heading to Mexico, so he has to have everything legal to get in without hassle. I think he has decided to hold off on the new bike for now. Atleast I hope so. It's to bad, the bike would suit him well, It is a Kawasaki w650 twin.
email me, I'll send some pics of Revelstoke.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
