hiring an Enfield @ India
To avoid expensive shipments to from India, we thought it could be a cool option to rent two enfields (preferably diesels, as I love diesel engines....) for a few months.
Anyone any info on availability and costs? My brother did it 11 years ago, so I guess the prices have changed a bit ;-)

It may, for a few months be better to buy and resell rather than rent, Stay away from the diesel Enfields, they stopped making them because they were crap, The diesel Enfields you see now have other engines rather than Enfields, ie Robin and Hatz.

I've ridden a SOMMER diesel Enfield.... you should forget everything about driving motorcycles, but then it is really lots of fun!
I just love diesel engines...
By the way: The Netherlands now officially has a motorcycle brand and factory: TRACK! check out Track Dieselmotorfietsen - Track T-800CDI 1E - Dieselmotorfiets!

But the diesel Enfields in India are definitely not Sommer but some local engine which is not very good, best avoided.

don't have a clou when we will be there and for how long. Just checking possibilities ;-) And I do think it would be cool to do it on a local bike. As you can save yourself a shipment it can be cheaper to buy/rent something there I think.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
