Unhappy India Visa

Hi.
Just been reading Sam Manicom's article in this month's Motorcycle Sport&Leisure, and in the factfile Sam says that the Indian Visa must be obtained in your home country. What if, like me, you're going to be on the road for a year or so before you reach India. Surely a visa can be obtained in the previous country,e.g Nepal or Pakistan?!
Cheers Derek.

Wink

Others here on HUBB have reported to have obtained their Indian visas elsewhere (e.g. Pakistan).

Getting an Indian visa is very simple in Islamabad, Pakistan. The only downside is that it takes a week to process, no express service available!

The Pakistan visa is the one you need to get in your home country...

Indian visa

Like David said, it's straightforward to get your Indian visa in Islamabad. We applied for it then did the loop from Peshawar - Chitral - Gilgit back down the KKH . It was ready when we arrived back in Islamabad a week or so later. Unfortunately it's not so easy for Pakistanis as you will see if you go to the embassy.

We were lucky enough to get all of our visa's enroute, we have NZ passports. I believe you can no longer obtain a Pak visa in Zahedan which is a real shame as the officials were all for getting tourists into the country at the time we applied.

Thumbs up Uae

If you’re traveling, Iranian, Pakistani and Indian visas can all be obtained in the UAE.

AFAIK you can obtain visa for India in any embassy abroad.

Very easy in Bangkok (took five workdays).

Getting the Pakistan visa was very easy in Kathmandu: 24h-Service without surcharge.

Regards

Lars

Hi,
i was a couple of times in india and i took my indian visa in kathmandu and in bangkok. the proces was like in belgium always the same for me: 5 days waiting, a couple of pics and 50 euros. the thing with the indian visa is that it starts running from the day you get it. but the term was always for 6 months..
good luck

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
