Insurance & ICP in Malaysia
If you are bringing your bike to Malaysia you will need insurance and something called an ICP. This is like local road tax. There is also a requirement to register the bike to get something called a VEP but I was advised against this as I have no intention of selling my bike or staying here a long time.
I Insured my bike through the Automobile Association of Malaysia and they covered me for 60 days insurance and the minimum 90 days ICP for around £85 (420Rm). You need to pay cash. You can email the copies of your V5, Carnet, IDP, passport and drivers license in advance so they can get everything set up when you call in to collect. I tried loads of other companies including some big international names and got nowhere so this solution came as a relief.
