Insurance for Canada/US on UK licence, Canadian bike
I am confused about my insurance situation. I am a Canadian citizen (BC) who lives in London at the moment. I will be going home next year to start a bike tour to from central BC, thru the West Coast of states, then to Mexico & Central America.
I will be driving on a UK drivers licence, riding a British Colombia registered and licenced bike in my name, travelling on a Canadian pasport. Can i get insurance through ICBC as I am a citzen of BC, but dont have a BC licence, or do I have to get insurance for a 'tourist/non citizen?
I am confused! thanks!

Why not just get a BC licence? If you've ever held a BC licence, it's dead easy, just a few minutes paperwork.

i used to have a bc licence, but ive been disqualified due to not paying fines. So Ive been told I have to pay the fines (a lot) then go for my bc licence again, which i dont have the funds or the time for as im not even in Canada. I just wish there was a way to insure the bike for Canada and USA, not using ICBC, but a worldwide company that would cover this situation. Ive been to the Motorcycle Express website, but there doesnt seem to be anything about driving insurance, just shipping insurance. If anyone can help!!!!!!!!!

Easy to insure
Hi I have been in canada for 9 months on a British licence and have been able to insure me BC registered bike with icbc the whole time. It is very expensive (4 times what i paid in the uk) as I have no history of driving in BC so no discount, but it is easy to do without a BC licence.
Hope this helps

Aren't you already insured
I was under the impression that when you get BC plates during registration they came with ICBC coverage?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
