Insurance for Russia
Hi All,
I'm currently in Busan waiting to get my bike from customs to then head over to Vladivostok before heading over to Europe.
I have just received an email from our good friend to the HUBB Yuri Melnikov with the following news -
Hello Brett,
at the moment situation with motorcycle insurance for foreigners has changed and now no one company in Vladivostok insures foreign motorcycles. We are trying to find solution but it may take time. The guy who arrived on ferry this week left Vladivostok without insurance. If you have a chance to make International insurance policy (Green Card) valid in Russia, while you are abroad please do so.
I've been frantically searching through all the threads on here regarding Green Card insurance but some threads are quite old and being from Australia with and Aust reg'd bike, I'm not sure who to contact or if this is even possible seeing as I'm not from Europe.
Does anyone have any advice for me?
Brett

Hi Brett
Does a green card cover Russia?
Here is a copy of the back of the green card insurance I got last year.
No mention of Russia.?
Maybe try phoning the UK number at the bottom see if there can help.

From the research I've done so far I thought some did but some didn't? Your pic confirms my suspicions.

My green card insurance from Germany did have "RU" on it somewhere... though I recall that it was circled or underlined or crossed out or something. I don't read German so I have no idea if that meant I was or wasn't insured. In any case, I spent 3 months in Russia and nobody ever asked me for it.

I just checked my Danish green card. It covers Russia too.
There's a note though that says, that it DOESNT cover that particular country if its crossed out.

Seems like I've got everything sorted relatively easily, albeit probably not cheaply. I have just sent the application form away to Knopf Motorradreisen in Germany who should be able to process everything by the end of the week and DHL it to me in Vlad early next week. Crisis averted.
It's these little thing that make it an adventure right?

Anyone know if Russian insurance is available at the border with Mongolia (Tsagaannuur – Tashanta)?
I am helping a friend who is in the same situation (arriving in Vlad from Japan), and we were trying to figure out if he should get green card from Knopf Motorradreisen for the period of time after exiting Mongolia. If insurance is available at the border with Mongolia, he will get a green card for just one month instead of long enough to cover the few days from Mongolia to Kazakhstan.

My green card, from Tourinsure, covers Russia.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
