international green card insurance (Georgia -> Italy)
Hi,
I'm planning trip from Republic of Georgia to Italy (by car). I will be passing through the whole Turkey and entering EU via Greece.
I did this few years back and local insurance company provided the green card, unfortunately they've informed that this year they don't sell these anymore. There is not a single insurance company here in Georgia that sells green cards, its insane!!
So I need to buy green card at the border. Either on Geo/Turkey border or Turkey/Greece border. Whichever possible/cheapest.
Can someone help me out find out the rates and possibilities?
Greece/Turkey border:
Greek side: Kipi Border Crossing Point
+30 2555 088840
Georgia/Turkey border:
Place is called Sarpi, but I cannot find phone number.
Any info at this point appreciated, would hate to cancel my trip.

Unfortunately touring club has no triptic office at sarp gate as seen on the map..yes its official for green card and triptics since early l960.s..
Türkiye Turing ve Otomobil Kurumu
There is a private ınsurance company booth at the gate and you will be forwarded there to buy it.If you buy green card,no need to buy turkish road insurance. If green card not available at the moment then you have to buy only turkish road insurance for turkey, zorunlu mali sorumluluk sigortası..you cant enter the country without one of them..For turkish road insurance buy it for a very short term, say l month that will cover your staying period..(economy)
Touring club has offices at the gates to greece and bulgaria..(Contact details on the map)
Türkiye Turing ve Otomobil Kurumu
Green card prices at touring is same with all european offices....:
15 days 52,50€
1 month 65,62€
2 " 91,87€
3 118,12€
4 144,37€
5 170,72€
6 196,87€
12 " 262,50€
All the best..

Sandro Mehmet provided valuable and correct info as always.
I just wanted to make things clear, because it seems that you're mixing things on couple of threads because of the same misunderstanding:
- border insurance that you will buy at the border between Georgia and Turkey is one border insurance policy
- border insurance that you will buy at the border between Turkey and Greece is different border insurance policy
Let us know if you need further explanation.
Cheers
Dooby

Temporary Frontier Insurance.
If I am not wrong, you dont need to pay extra for the Green Card. As long as you buy local insurance in a European country, then the agent has to provide you with the GREEN CARD for free.
This is what happened to us twice (April 2012 & January 2015). We have a Greek registered car.
If your car is registered in a European country, then buy your insurance at the borders and ask them to give the green card as well.
If is not EU registered, maybe you have to consider the Temporary Frontier Insurance.
Check here: Polizze di Frontiera | UCI S.C.AR.L & https://www.huo.hr/eng/frontier-insurance/47/ & https://www.bta.lv/en/private/fronti...rance-contract.

Hi, I contacted touring club, and they answered me this:
Unfortunately you can’t buy a greencard from the Turkey. This document doesn’t arrange to foreign car according to the Turkish law.
You will take a Turkish mandatory insurance from the Turkish border. More after you can buy a greencard from the Bulgaria border.
Regards.
