Mali and Mauri visas

Hi all. I've been searching out where exactly to get visas for Mali in Morocco and have found about 5 different addresses for where the Malian Embassy is supposed to be; 3 are in Rabat and 2 in Casa! Does anyone have up to date info on the current or actual address with preferably some waypoints? Same problem with Mauri but only 2 addresses. However one's in Casa and the other Rabat!

It seems with Mauri planning to ban, as per Senegal, older-than-5 year vehicles that we'll now be needing Carnets there. Again any more info gratefully received. We're off October/November.

Thanks in anticipation...........

Mali visas are easily obtained in Nouakchott - 2 months double entry, arrived at 9am, colected at 11:30am - so if your going through there as most people do it might be easier. Its easy to find as well.

Ask at Auberge Sahara (from there, walk out their door to the road, turn right, at the first road (only 20 metres) turn right and just go straight for a km or two, including past the stadium thing. It's on the right hand side with a red, green and yellow flag on top (small wgite building). If you get to a Petrol station on a roundabout/junction, turn around and go back a few blocks. (google it's gps point as I did)

Also, buy your insurance for Mali in Mori - it's much cheaper and you will have it when you cross the border as the police will check and fine you 25 euros otherwise ;-)

Ask at auberge Sahara and they will call the insurance guy for you (but it's much nicer staying at Auberge Menata)

Spot on

Excellent and precise info Roaminyak. Thanks a bunch!

Do you possibly have just as excellent info on how to obtain the Mauritanian visa in Morocco? I heard Rabat is the place to go for that. Can you confirm this?

Thanks again

Yip, whilst you are being good by posting into the correct forum, if you have a look in the Sahara forum you will find that info including all the latest updates on the situation (they may want an airline ticket like the old days).

The Mauritanian consulate that issues visa is in Casa, the embassy in Rabat no longer does this! Make sure you are there early in the morning and don't hurry back in the afternoon to collect your passport, it takes longer than they promise. http://www.langebaan-sunset.com/

Ta very much

Thanks Darrin. Just what I needed and a great tip about Insurance too. As regards the Mauri situation, I had seen the other posts to which you've posted links, but what I guess I was after is whether anyone knew any up to date info. Guess not.

Best
