moneybookers
Hi, has anyone here used Moneybookers.com to transfer money to Stantours (or anywhere else) and if so what was the service like? I'm finding it difficut to believe how convoluted the procedure is!! I seem to be spending days just trying to sort out transfers etc. I'm not complaining and I'm sure it will be worth it in the end but good grief!!

I've sent money using moneybookers. Wasn't too bad. My credit card company immediately called me to check the test amount just taken from my card wasn't fraudulent which was quite handy as it saved me from calling them to find out what amount it was.

Thumbs up money, money, money
I've used Moneybookers for Stantours and it seemed fine -I had phoned my credit card company for the amount to speed up the process. (this will only make sense to anyone who has used Moneybookers).
I had asked others oif they had any good/bad experiences - all seemed OK with them.
I'll probably find my bank account wiped out now!

I'll need to send them payment in about a month, haven't looked into it just thought I would be able to do it with my own bank account online.

Moneybookers vs. Paypal
Moneybookers sounds a bit like Paypal which I am familiar with. Is there an advantage with MB that makes them desirable?

... because some agencies and organisations will not accept a payment by any other method except a bank transfer which can cost £30 just to send $20 - or at least that is what my UK bank told me.
Mcgiggle - bear in mind that you need to set the Moneybookers account up in advance - it is not an instant one like Paypal.
And no, I don't know why some companies insist on using it. You can ask about internet banking to transfer the money - but not all companies will accept that either.

Yes used money bookers about 1.5 months ago getting LOI for Azerbaijan it was simple and painless for Stantours though you have to add $3 for the amount money bookers charges them and 25p per transaction , ie 25p to transfer the money into my money bookers account and also 25p to pay stantours.

I paid into money bookers as if it were a purchase rather than to link my bank account which feels a tad more iffy.

Hi used them and no real problem. The only difficulty if you're away from home (as I was) is that they send a confirmation code to your home address, so you need someone back there who can then email the code back out to you before you can make any transfers.

The reason some people are using Moneybookers instead of Payal is (I think) becuase Paypal is US controlled and as such blocked for transactions with places like Iran (and perhaps Cuba ?). New Presdient, same crap......

Thanks for the info guys. I decided to use a bank transfer instead ( cost me £9) much quicker and easier.

A transfer from an internet account was a lot easier

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
