Can't you guys apply in your home country at the respective embassies? I got my visa in Turkey without an agency or itinerary and again in UAE.

i am planning on going through Iran, but not till I've been through Europe this summer. It will probably be more than 3 months after i leave the UK before I get to Iran, so any visa issued in the UK will be out of date.I have read horror stories about getting Iranian visas in other countries. Is it like this getting one in Turkey, or was it straight foreward?

I went through Iran independently and solo 9 months ago from the UAE by ferry to Bandar e Abbas and then NW through Tabriz into Turkey. I am a Brit and got my visa in Dubai no problem without the need for an itinerary and understand the same is also possible W to E in Ankara. If you want to find out more detail, you can check my blog at motociclistascondoscojones
Cheers,
Honesy.
ps - the stuff on Iran is right at the bottom of the blog, you will have to scroll down.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
