Seeing you're in TR I recommend getting your visa there. THEN get your IR visa. Seems to be what most people are doing. I don't think there is a problem getting visas for Aussies.

pakisan visa's will no long be issued in terhan or on the border we have met lots and lots of people who have come across turkey got to Iran expecting visa's and now shipping or thinking want the hell do I do next including us.
You can get a boat from Bandar-e-addas to uae and boat from there to mumbi or fly from shiraz or terhan.
we are in Dogubayazit and have just met phil and jodi the are heading back to ankara to get their pakistan visa

What is the situation coming the other way. We are leaving Oz very soon and were planning on getting visas on route. Should we try and get one before we leave.

Hi, we are now in Kupang. You can get an Indian visa in Brisbane. It lasts 6 months but that starts from when it is issued not from when you go into the country. Often they are about to run out as you get there. You can get an Indian visa in Katmandu easily.
we plan to get our Iran visa in Delhi and if that fails then it can be issued in Islamabad.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
