Problems getting Sudan visa ???
Hi all
Is anyone else (in Africa) having the same problems getting their Sudan visa recently?
We are in Dar heading North. On 7 dec 2007 we handed in all the required paperwork for our visa apllication.
We were told that normally you would have got the visa in a couple of days but the rules have changed and all applications must be sent to Khartoum first.
It is now almost 6 weeks later and we still don't have our visa. The ambassador himself has even become involved.
In the mean time Kenya isn't what it used to be. And we are still in Dar now trying other options to get out.

Any update on this situation? I had heard that Dar was the best place in East Africa to get the Sudan visa. Need some good info on this. Thx.

Hi there,
Sorry, I can't update you on the Sudan visa situation in Dar.
It always was the place to get it. Just like the rest of Africa things always change just infront of your nose. Some times for the better, Some times for the worse.
The last I heard was that overlanders heading North were trying their luck in Addis
Having said that I just met a couple that waited 2 months in Addis.
We were finally granted our Sudan visa in Dar after almost 3 months. One hour before leaving for the airport to catch a plane. By this time we had organised Saudi visas and were heading to Oman. Not going to Sudan at all
The situation may have changed again and if you are in Dar you can always try your luck.
This is the Number of the embassy

Ian - were you applying for a tourist visa or a transit visa?

Thanks for the update. Also, David's question is pertinent as well. In Addis, we would be going for the transit visa for sure, but I wasn't sure whether you could only go for the tourist or transit too in Dar. Thanks again.
