Saudi Arabia Visas
Hi has anybody recently been through Saudi Arabia on the Jordan-SA-Sudan route?
From what I've seen getting visas in Sudan isn't that much of a hassle but getting them anywhere else is a major pain. Has anybody come up against this problem? And did anybody manage to take this route down into East Africa, as I'd really like to avoid the high charges in Egypt.
Also, has anybody managed to get through Saudi Arabia in a RHD vehicle?
Thanks
Jim

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that GCC residents can get a Transit visa from their country of residence to Transit through Saudi, so bikers resident in Kuwait would likely qualify for a Transit visa. You may find you need a different type of visa, and different rules apply.

Hi,
Qatar Rider is correct. Residents of neighbouring countries do not require visas to transit Saudi.
I am a UK citizen working in Kuwait, and got a transit visa (eventually) for Saudi last year. I ended up applying through one of the 'Hamlas'. These are one of many small offices/agencies that arrange Haj and Umrah (religious) trips/visas to Saudi (Mecca). They also arrange transit visas. It cost me about 10 GBP and was ready in a couple of days. It was also a multi entry one valid for months.
The Pricipal of the British School of Kuwait drove a RHD double-decker bus from UK to Kuwait a few years ago. I heard he had problems transiting Saudi in the RHD vehicle and had to call on some important friends in kuwait to pull a few strings to get him through.
You may be able to contact him through The British School of Kuwait
Hope this helps,
Godd luck
