Short term UK Insurance and recovery

Dear All,

I'm having trouble getting sensible answers for 1 months third party insurance and 1 months breakdown cover for UK.

I am UK resident (well, kind of) on UK car, but will be home for only a month before the car is sold (or stored SORN). Of course we managed fine all round Africa, but all a bit different in UK.

The best I have found so far is a normal insurance policy to pay 50 quid deposit and 50 quid cancellation charges, a temp 28 day policy for 150 quid and I cannot find anything on temporary break down cover. After wading through the 'green card' thread, I don't think it applies.

Any ideas very welcome.

ebike insurance

Hi there - these guys do insurance on a month by month basis

eBike Insurance - Welcome to eBike Insurance

used them to cover my CBF just before I sold it - I needed to ride it to the garage and back, and given I live just around the corner from the police training centre who like to point cameras at me I didn't risk it - I covered the CBF for 1 month for 11.50GBP

You're looking for the 'pay as you go' policy, at the end of the month you just cancel and then the policy ends - nice and simple.

Day Insure are also worth a look

Short Term Car insurance, Van Insurance, from dayinsure.com

This is true short term insurance and you can go by the day if you want to - dirt cheap and by the looks of it they've just started insuring motorcycles (I've used them for the car only).

Fast service, easy to deal with and importantly - cheap!

Breakdown coverage a little more complicated - I don't think either of these companies offers it - but worth asking them.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
