Singapore insurance
Any suggestions on where to get cheap bike insurance for Singapore.

I (regrettably) shipped the bike from Brisbane to Singapore. In order to get the ICP from the AA, they want me to show 3rd party insurance in Singapore. The AA has quoted me S$150 for a week - which is a bit steep considering I'm planning to ride in Singapore for a few hours...

Any suggestions much appreciated!

i understand that riding in singapore is not easy due to all the stupid laws....

AA singapore is another golf club type of organization. they do not know what is our situation.

im a singaporean. u can try using
NTUC Income | Motor Insurance

i always buy the insurance from them... its kind of government semi private company.

or check out singaporebikes.com on what is the gossip about.

let me know if u still cant get any...

I know a couple who put their bike on the back of a RAC/AA (or singapore equivalent) truck to the Malaysian border for about $75 or so, maybe worth a shot.

Thanks guys. NTUC Income already told me once that they can't cover me, but I'm applying the principle that if you ask a few times, someone eventually shows some initiative. I'll try the forum as well...

I thought about couriering the bike to the border, but I'd still need Malaysian insurance and I'm trying not to complicate the process - I'm without the bike for 3.5 weeks while it's shipped from Brisbane (Darwin was cut off due to flooding) - and I'm mad keen to just get on the bike and ride again!!!

Yeah, that's exactly why I shipped mine from Melb to Port Klang, KL. I didn't get any insurance in Malaysia tho so can't help there.

I also had a bit of time to kill while waiting for the bike and became a backpacker (mmm, waiting 5 hrs for the next bus...) and took off to Pulau Tioman, a lovely little island to the east of Malaysia for a few days - highly recommended!

If you're heading to India later, it took 5 days in KL for my visa to come through so maybe worth getting this while you're in Singapore.

Rob: i never heard any biker at the malaysia custom/immigration was requested 4 the insurance. more often police along the highway will stop u at roadblock to show u that u are speeding at 120km/hr then will ask for ur documents.NEVER give them! if u are really in the wrong, ask if u can settle privately... RM$50 is alot to them! u get what i mean?

if they ask for insurance, show them ur australia insurance... be confident when cheating in a class test....

thailand 3rd party insurance is cheap, can buy at the border or Hatyai.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
