take pity on me please !
Hi... I'm confused and need some concrete help undertanding visa requiremets. I'm travelling from London to Morocco, into Mauritania, on to Mali and then to Daker, Senegal and shipping my bike back from there.
Does anybody haev recent knowledge of;
a) Visa requiremets (what's needed, where do I get them)
b) Insurance issues (how to insure me and the bike for this trip)
c) Mandatory vacciinations needed
I know there are lots of threads on here already about this sort of stuff but I can't make out what is current and what is out of date.
Any help very much appreciated,
cheers,
Simon

Simon,
Get your mali visum in Rabat (search for co-ordinates on the forum as the embassy is difficult to find)
Then get your Mauritanian visum in Casablanca. I don't think you'll need a visum for Senegal, but check with compatriots.
Have a nice trip,
Rob

Re: Vaccinations
I'm going the same route as you (and then carrying on to Cape Town) and I've just had jabs for Yellow Fever, Polio, Diphtheria &Tetanus, Meningitis ACW&Y and Hepatitis (A I think!). These were all advised as "necessary" but yellow fever is definitely required. I was told rabies jabs were optional - they don't stop you getting it but give you 3 days to get to a hospital rather than 1.
I've also been advised to buy anti-malarials in Gibraltar rather than the UK as they're much cheaper.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
