Kinda Urgent - Brunei, Carnet de Passage?
Hi all -- I'm here in Borneo right now on my Vespa, just having crossed over to the Malaysian side from Pontianak, and it just quite dumbly occurred to me that I'll be riding through the Sultanate of Brunei on the way over to Sandakan. And I just had a look through my Carnet booklet and I have only three pages left.
A closer look at the Brunei map shows that I'm going to have to enter Brunei, then re-enter Malaysia, then re-enter Brunei again, before going back into Malaysia.
Long story short, I don't have enough pages left. *IF* Brunei requires the CDP. And I've been up and down the length of the internet, and these boards, and there's absolutely nothing there about whether or not Brunei requires a CDP, or if they issue some temporary import permit a la Thailand. Has anybody here done the Kuching--Sandakan run? How does it work with that little Bruneian interlude there? Carnet? No carnet?
I'm under the gun here to meet a shipper in Sandakan, and I need to know if I should keep going to meet him, or just give up and turn around and go try to find some air freight guy in Kuching.
Cheers!
