U.K Bike Insurance Cover Summer ONLY

I was wondering if anyone could point PLEASE me in the direction of a good U.K bike insurance company that sells SUMMER cover ONLY?

During the winter I store my bikes in a secure and dry garage. My home contents insurance covers both bikes when they are not in use.

I have been quoted £130 for the XT600E fully comprehensive for 1 year (44 year old retired plod). I am returning to bikes after a 10 year gap therefore I now have no no-claims bonus. I will ride about 3,000 miles a year mostly at weekends when it's not wet.

I thought it might be possible to save money by limiting cover to 6 months of the year. Is this possible or indeed sensible?

Thanking you all in anticipation...

If you're only paying £130 a year then is it worth the bother?
If you don't run a full years policy then you're never going to build up any NCB. Not a problem now, but if you decide to go to a bigger bike in the future then it could prove costly.
I'd be very surprised if your home contents insurance insurance covers bikes - vehicles are usually specifically excluded, even if they're in the garage.

I know eBike insurance offer a month by month pay as you go policy, but I doubt it'll work out cheaper than buying the full year when your policy is this cheap to start with.

I wish I could get mine fully comp for £130.

Try Cheap UK Car insurance and home insurance quotes comparison from Confused.com.. Can get exactly the same policy with the same company through some of their brokers for far less than what Bennetts are charging. I just get the reference number from Confused's website then phone the company myself.

It would do my head in being off the road for 6 months.

Sorry Craig it wasn't my intention to rub anyones nose in it... I realise that the cost of insurance for younger riders can be over the top. I suppose it's due to all those idiotic "boy racers" riding like idiots and having/causing lots of needless accidents... Mark you're right my Home Contents doesn't cover the bike!

I'm 44 year old ex bike cop and thats the reason why the quote is so low. I would gladly swap it for your quote if I could be 21 again.

No problem. I didn't read your comment like that at all.

I'm 31 and I ride a Kawasaki ZX6-R which may have something to do with it. Strange choice for a travel bike I know but the world would be a boring place if we were all the same.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
