Visa for Georgia - get it on the border?
Hi guys, I am one of the 51st Traverse boys riding from Vladivostok, Russia to London, England. We are stoked to now be halfway - in Kazakstan - and give a great big thanks to all Hubb users who have helped us with our million questions and problems along the way.
One quick one that is bugging us about Georgia: is a visa required for Kiwis to enter Georgia, and if so, can it be purchased on the border at Baku (where the ferry gets in from Turkmenistan)? We have read so many conflicting reports, some saying that one is required, and easy/hard to get, others saying one is not required at all.
Would love to hear your experiences, or be referred to some reliable information on the matter.
Cheers,
Rob Climo

Bro, on the website from the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. HERE At the bottom of the page is a list, As it states, kiwis don't need a visa to enter the country for 360 days.
On the same page it states you can get the visa at the border on arrival. See quoted text below.
"2. In cases determined by the Georgian legislation visa/entry permit for 360 days (visa fee 100 GEL) can be issued by the Patrol Police of Georgia (sub-divisional institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) at border crossing points situated at the Georgian State Border. In exeption, in some cases, visa will be issued for up 90 days."
If I was in this position, I would try to call them or send a email and have it on black and white Contact info
You cant get much higher up than the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But...
cheers

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
