Carnet Rates
Something that hasn't been talked about very much here is that the Carnet des Passages has a different rate depending on where you are from.
For example, the percent duty for Canadians going to Egypt is only 55%. It is my understanding that for Brits it is on the order of 400%. When we rode from Germany to South Africa via the East Coast our most expensive country was Tanzania at 100% of the value of the bikes.
Your issuing agency will be happy to provide you with the current rates. Well, at least Suzanne at the CAA was...
